In December of 2018, concern began to mount for 27-year-old Mandy Lemay, a female resident of Oil Springs, Kentucky, when her family had not heard from her for a significant period. The family's worry intensified after she was absent from Thanksgiving celebrations in late November. Her brother, growing increasingly alarmed, decided to contact law enforcement on December 17th to report her missing.
Kentucky State Police responded to the Lemay residence on Kentucky Route 825 for a welfare
check. Upon their arrival, they encountered Mandy's 50-year-old husband, Paul Lemay. Initially, he denied them entry. After gaining access to the home, troopers discovered Mandy's body in a bedroom, concealed under a pile of blankets. She had sustained a single gunshot wound. Based on the condition of her remains, it was determined that she had been deceased for several weeks.
Paul Lemay was taken into custody at the scene and subsequently charged with murder. During the investigation, it was revealed that he had admitted to killing his wife. In September 2020, Paul Lemay pleaded guilty to the murder of his wife. He was later sentenced to 45 years in prison for the crime.
