In the late afternoon of June 8, 2020, a sense of unease settled over the rural community of Roundhill, Kentucky. On the quiet stretch of Sleepy Hollow Road, the body of 33-year-old Ricky Daniel Watkins, a White male from Franklin, Kentucky, was discovered. Law enforcement from the Kentucky State Police and the Butler County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene around 4:30 p.m. to find Watkins deceased from what appeared to be a gunshot wound.
