In a tragic event that unfolded in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, William J. Collins, a 48-year-old male, lost his life in a violent ambush. At the time of his death, Collins was a Sergeant with the Hardin County Sheriff's Department, where he had served for 15 years. The off-duty officer was with his wife, who was a civilian employee of the same department, when the attack occurred.
