In the early morning hours of July 11, 2020, the life of 31-year-old Darell L. Price was tragically cut short in Lexington, Kentucky. A Black male, Price was discovered on the ground in the 500 block of Chestnut Street shortly before 3 a.m., suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but tragically succumbed to his injuries, with his official time of death recorded as 5:08 a.m.

In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, the Lexington police quickly identified a suspect in the city's 16th homicide of the year. A warrant for murder was issued for the arrest of 27-year-old Anthony King, who police stated was an acquaintance of Price. In addition to the murder charge, a warrant was also issued for King for being a felon in possession of a firearm. Authorities reached out to the public for any information regarding King's whereabouts.

Despite the naming of a suspect, the case has grown cold, leaving a painful void for Price's grieving family. His sister has spoken out about the devastating impact of his death, particularly on his young daughter who was left without a father. The family has made public appeals for anyone with information to come forward to aid in the investigation. While there were reportedly several people on the street at the time of the shooting, no substantial leads have emerged, and the case officially remains unsolved. The family continues to mourn their loss, grappling with the absence of closure and justice for Darell L. Price.
