On August 27, 2023, a shooting incident occurred in the 900 block of Winchester Road in Lexington, Kentucky, resulting in the death of 26-year-old Malik Sleet. The incident happened early in the morning, just before 4:00 a.m., when Lexington police were dispatched to the scene following a report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers found Malik Sleet suffering from a gunshot wound in a parking lot. Despite immediate medical attention, Sleet was pronounced deceased at the scene.
