In the late hours of a Saturday night in Lexington, Kentucky, the life of 31-year-old Brandon Starr was tragically cut short. On February 19, 2022, police responded to a call about a person down in a residential area on Liberty Road. Upon their arrival at around 10:30 p.m., they discovered Starr suffering from a gunshot wound. The Fayette County Coroner pronounced him dead at the scene, marking the city's fifth homicide of the year.
Originally from Arkansas, Starr had moved to Kentucky
seeking a better life. He was a father of three and was remembered by his family as a loving, God-fearing man who cherished his children and family, though he was often misunderstood. He had found employment in construction and at Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse, where he had been recognized as employee of the month in 2019. His sisters recalled that in the days leading up to his death, he had been focused on returning home to be with his family.
