In the summer of 2020, a young man's life was cut short in the Portland neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky. Twenty-year-old Malik Savage was fatally shot on the afternoon of July 13th on Lytle Street, near the intersection of North 24th and Bank Streets. When officers from the Louisville Metro Police Department arrived at the scene around 4 p.m., they found Savage, who had sustained a single gunshot wound.
Tragically, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
For months, the investigation into Savage's death continued without any publicly named suspects. The community was left with questions and the hope that those responsible would be brought to justice. The initial police reports indicated that there were no immediate suspects, and authorities appealed to the public for any information that could help solve the case.
Nearly nine months later, in April 2021, a breakthrough in the investigation led to an arrest. Twenty-year-old Timothy Turner was taken into custody in connection with the fatal shooting. According to police, Turner had arranged a transaction involving the sale of a gun at the nearby LaPorte Park. It was during this transaction that shots were fired, resulting in Malik Savage's death.
Further investigation revealed that Turner was in possession of a gun during the incident and that the weapon had been fired, according to his arrest report. Authorities also stated that Turner sold the gun after the shooting. He was subsequently charged with facilitation of murder and tampering with physical evidence and booked into Louisville Metro Corrections.
