In the early hours of a Sunday morning in Louisville, Kentucky, tragedy struck a young man, leaving a community in mourning and a case yet to be solved. On August 16, 2020, 19-year-old Thomas Ewing Bryant Jr., a Black male, was found inside a vehicle in the Chickasaw neighborhood. The Louisville Metro Police Department responded to reports of a shooting just after midnight and discovered him near the intersection of South 36th and Dumesnil streets.
