In the winter of 2021, RaMone Cortez Grundy, a 41-year-old Black male from Louisville, Kentucky, found his life tragically cut short. On the evening of Thursday, January 28th, or Friday, January 29th, gunshots shattered the night in the Buechel neighborhood. Grundy was shot near a Kroger on Buechel Bypass and Hikes Lane. First responders arrived at the scene to find him with serious injuries.
He was rushed to the University of Louisville Hospital for urgent medical care.
Despite the efforts of the medical staff, RaMone Cortez Grundy succumbed to his injuries on Sunday, January 31, 2021. His death was officially confirmed by the Jefferson County Coroner's office. The Louisville Metro Police Department's Major Case Division launched an investigation into the fatal shooting.
In the immediate aftermath, law enforcement officials appealed to the public for any information that might lead to the apprehension of those responsible for Grundy's death. However, publicly available information has not indicated that any arrests have been made, nor have any suspects been publicly identified in connection with the homicide.
