In the early evening of May 2, 2021, a burst of violence in Louisville's Taylor Berry neighborhood claimed the life of 18-year-old Zhyan Robinson. A Black male, Robinson was in the 3200 block of Utah Avenue at approximately 6:20 p.m. when he was shot. First responders found him at the scene and he was quickly transported to the University of Louisville Hospital.
Despite medical efforts, Zhyan Robinson succumbed to his gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The shooting that ended Robinson's life was part of a violent Sunday in Louisville, which saw two other shootings within a short timeframe. The Louisville Metro Police Department opened an investigation into Robinson's death, which the Jefferson County Coroner's Office officially ruled a homicide. However, the case has remained without a resolution.
To date, investigators have not publicly identified any suspects in the killing of Zhyan Robinson, and no arrests have been made. The Louisville Metro Police Department has appealed to the public for any information that might lead to a breakthrough in the ongoing investigation. Zhyan's case is listed among the city's open homicides from 2021. He was survived by his parents, a daughter, and numerous siblings and other family members.
