In the early hours of a Saturday in May 2021, the life of 28-year-old Demonte Washington was cut short. The incident occurred just before 3 a.m. on Hillcrest Avenue in Lexington, Kentucky, where police responded to a report of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Washington, who had sustained a fatal gunshot wound. The Fayette County coroner's office pronounced him dead at the scene at 3:33 a.m. His death was recorded as the 17th homicide in Fayette County for that year.
