In the early morning hours of August 2, 2021, the body of 22-year-old Jamar Patterson Jr., a Black male, was discovered by a passerby on the side of Delong Road in Lexington, Kentucky. The Lexington Police Department was dispatched to the scene, between Armstrong Mill Road and Colliver Lane, at approximately 6:46 a.m. where they found Patterson unresponsive.
Emergency services from the Lexington Fire Department were present, but Patterson was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Fayette County Coroner's Office later confirmed that he had sustained a fatal gunshot wound, and his death was officially ruled a homicide. Investigators noted that his body was found in a gravel driveway about 25 to 30 feet off the road, leading to the possibility that the shooting may have occurred elsewhere and his body was left at that location.
As of late 2025, the investigation into the death of Jamar Patterson Jr. remains ongoing. Law enforcement officials have not publicly identified any suspects or motives in the case. The Lexington Police Department has urged anyone with information to come forward and has actively sought tips from the community through Bluegrass Crime Stoppers. To date, no arrests have been announced in connection with his murder, leaving his family and community awaiting justice.
