In the early morning hours of March 4, 2021, a sense of normalcy was shattered in a Lexington, Kentucky home, resulting in the tragic death of 28-year-old Jesse Matthew Averitt, a White male with a promising future. Just after 2 a.m., while Averitt was at his residence on De Porres Avenue, a vehicle drove by and unleashed a barrage of gunfire into the house.
