In the late spring of 2021, a Louisville, Kentucky family was irrevocably altered by an act of violence. Roger Dale Shreve, Jr., a 46-year-old man known to his loved ones, was fatally shot on May 27, 2021. The incident that claimed his life unfolded near the intersection of Central and Montana Avenues in the Taylor Berry neighborhood, a location not far from the iconic Churchill Downs.
Emergency services were dispatched to the scene before 1 p.m. following a report of a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers with the Louisville Metro Police Department discovered Shreve suffering from a gunshot wound. He was quickly transported to the University of Louisville Hospital in a desperate attempt to save his life. Tragically, the efforts were in vain, and he succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office later confirmed that the cause of death was a gunshot wound.
A native of Louisville, Roger Dale Shreve, Jr. worked as a carpet installer. His death left behind a grieving family, including his siblings Catina Parah, Crystal Dickson Gaines, Sean Shreve, and Nathan Shreve, all of Louisville. In the aftermath of the shooting, the Louisville Metro Police Department initiated an investigation into the homicide.
Despite the ongoing investigation, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects in the fatal shooting of Roger Dale Shreve, Jr. As of early June 2021, no arrests had been made in connection with the case.
