In the late summer of 2021, the life of 27-year-old Mary Elizabeth Roos, a white female from Louisville, Kentucky, was tragically cut short. On September 3, 2021, her body was discovered in a trash can in an alley off Cecil Avenue in the Chickasaw neighborhood of Louisville. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office later determined that she had died from a gunshot wound, and her death was officially ruled a homicide.
Mary, a mother to a young daughter named Layla, was remembered by her
family as a loving and cherished individual. She was born on February 7, 1994, and was adopted by her parents, David and Kathleen Roos. In her youth, she was active in several sports, but her true passion was for horses. Her family's grief was palpable as they sought answers and justice for her untimely death.
Despite the efforts of the Louisville Metro Police Department's Homicide Unit, no arrests have been publicly announced in connection with Mary's murder, and no suspects have been formally identified. The investigation into her death remains ongoing. Her family has pleaded with the public for any information that might lead to a breakthrough in the case, hoping that someone will come forward with details that could bring closure and justice for Mary and her daughter. A funeral Mass was held for Mary on September 17, 2021, and she was laid to rest at Louisville Memorial Gardens East.
