In Louisville, Kentucky, a 21-year-old woman named Kylee Miller was found dead in her home on Sydney Renee Way on the night of February 18, 2024. Officers from the Louisville Metro Police Department had been dispatched to her residence to conduct a welfare check just before 11 p.m. Upon entering the home, they discovered Ms. Miller's body; it was later determined by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office that she had died from multiple gunshot wounds.
The investigation into the death of
the young mother, who leaves behind a son named Brecken, soon began to focus on a 29-year-old man named Richard Goodman. Investigators learned that Goodman was with Miller in the hours leading up to her death. A key piece of evidence emerged when Miller's vehicle was discovered burned in a field in a different part of Louisville. Detectives were able to use cellular data to place Goodman in the vicinity of the car fire.
Further implicating Goodman were phone conversations he had with an inmate at the Metro Corrections facility. In these calls, which took place before police had discovered Miller's body, Goodman reportedly discussed details of the crime that had not been made public. In one of the calls, he was recorded saying, 'she drank six 40s' and 'if she still awake after drink six 40s, godd*****, she's a damn animal.' At the scene of the crime, investigators found 40-caliber casings.
On March 27, 2024, Richard Goodman was arrested and charged with the murder of Kylee Miller. He also faces a charge of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. At his arraignment the following day, Goodman pleaded not guilty, and his bond was set at $250,000. According to her family, Miller knew and trusted Goodman. Her aunt described the details of the case as 'beyond horrible' and 'disgusting.'
