In the small town of Hyden, Kentucky, a chain of events born from a domestic dispute culminated in the tragic death of 30-year-old Jackie M. Lingar on November 22, 2021. A Caucasian female known for her love of arts and crafts, Jackie found her life cut short at the Mary Breckinridge-ARH Hospital after a violent encounter.
The incident that led to Lingar's untimely demise unfolded when another woman, Karianna Burton, arrived at a residence in search of her baby's father.
An altercation ensued, and in the ensuing chaos, Lingar was fatally shot. The act of violence not only claimed a life but also led to Burton's arrest on a charge of murder.
In the aftermath of the shooting, the legal process began, leading to a resolution in May 2024. Karianna Burton ultimately pleaded guilty to the murder of Jacqueline Lingar as part of a plea agreement. Alongside the murder charge, she also faced six counts of wanton endangerment. A judge sentenced Burton to more than 22 years in prison, with all charges to run concurrently.
