In the late hours of a Thursday evening in Louisville, Kentucky, the lively atmosphere of a popular sports bar was shattered by sudden violence, forever altering the lives of two families. On April 14, 2022, Alden Fernandez, a 21-year-old male of Cuban descent, was fatally shot in the parking lot of Hoops Grill & Sports Bar on Strawberry Lane. Another man, 32-year-old Haris Boskailo, was also killed in the attack.
The incident unfolded around 11 p.m.
as patrons enjoyed the mild spring night. Witnesses reported a vehicle pulling into the crowded parking lot. At least one individual exited the car, approached another vehicle, and opened fire. The entire brutal event was over in less than 20 seconds. When officers from the Louisville Metro Police Department arrived at the scene, they discovered Fernandez inside a car and Boskailo on the ground nearby, both having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.
For over a year, the case remained a painful open wound for the families of the victims as investigators worked to identify those responsible. A significant development came in June 2023, when police arrested 23-year-old David Morales. He was charged with two counts of complicity to murder, complicity to tampering with physical evidence, and complicity to receiving stolen property. His bond was initially set at $500,000.
The investigation did not end with Morales's arrest. In May 2025, a second suspect was taken into custody. Isaac S. Castellanos, 34, was arrested on a warrant for two counts of murder and tampering with physical evidence in connection with the double homicide. The motive for the shooting remains unclear, and it is not publicly known if the victims had any prior relationship with the suspects.
