In the early moments of a Tuesday morning in Louisville, Kentucky, tragedy unfolded inside a Valley Station apartment. Just after midnight on October 29, 2024, officers from the Louisville Metro Police Department were dispatched to an apartment complex located in the 5500 block of Eight Bells Lane following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered a man inside one of the units who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
The victim was identified as Montrez Boyington, a 34-year-old Black male.
First responders, including police and EMS, immediately rendered first aid to Boyington in an effort to save his life. Despite their efforts, his injuries proved to be too severe. Montrez Boyington was pronounced dead at the scene. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office later confirmed that his death was a result of the multiple gunshot wounds he had suffered.
The investigation into the death of Montrez Boyington was handed over to the LMPD's Homicide Unit. Detectives began working to determine the circumstances that led to the fatal shooting and to identify a possible motive. As of late October 2024, authorities had not publicly identified any suspects in connection with the case, and no arrests had been made. The police department has appealed to the public for assistance, asking anyone with information to contact their anonymous tip line as the investigation remains ongoing.
