Kandace Blaine Dunn, aged 22, tragically died on June 26, 2011, in Cass Lake, Minnesota. Kandace, also known by her namesake 'Gaa Gii Ge Ikwe' was found deceased at her home. The incident occurred while her two young children were present in the bedroom they shared.
The primary suspect in this case was Ross Littlewolf, who was 28 years old at the time. Littlewolf, the father of one of Kandace's children, was charged with second-degree murder and two counts of second-degree assault with a firearm. He fatally shot Kandace in the head and threatened to kill two other adults in the house before instructing them to take care of the children.
Ross Littlewolf later pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to 45 years in prison for his actions. This tragic event left a profound impact on the community and highlighted the severe consequences of domestic violence.
