In the early evening of November 2, 2019, a burst of gunfire shattered the quiet behind the Roosevelt Homes complex in Saint Paul, Minnesota. When the chaos subsided, 25-year-old Anthony Martin, a Black male, was found lying on a sidewalk with a gunshot wound to his chest. First responders rushed him to Regions Hospital, but his life could not be saved. The incident, which unfolded around 5:30 p.m. on the 1100 block of Hazelwood Street, also left another man seriously injured.
