In the early hours of a Minnesota winter, a night that began with music and celebration ended in tragedy. Just after midnight on December 22, 2019, gunfire erupted in the parking lot of the Dala Thai Restaurant and Banquet Hall in Spring Lake Park, a suburb of Minneapolis. When the chaos subsided, 19-year-old Chai Yang, a male resident of St. Paul, was found dead, his life cut short by the violence that unfolded.
