In the quiet residential neighborhood of the 4100 block of Humboldt Avenue North in Minneapolis, a car sat idling for hours on end, drawing little attention until the late evening of October 30, 2023. When police responded to the scene at approximately 10:30 p.m., they discovered a grim reality inside the vehicle. Behind the wheel was the body of 21-year-old Jaden Malik Anand Hollman of New Brighton.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office would later confirm that Hollman's life
was taken by a gunshot wound to the head, ruling his death a homicide. A resident of the block noted that the car had been inexplicably idling near the curb for at least seven hours before authorities made the discovery. The stillness of the scene belied the violence that had occurred hours earlier.
In the wake of the discovery, the Minneapolis Police Department opened an investigation into the city's 52nd homicide of the year.
