Lucas Grahn, a 26-year-old resident of Minneapolis, MN, was tragically shot and killed on November 20, 2020. The incident occurred at a home located in the 2700 block of 18th Avenue South in south Minneapolis. Authorities were alerted to the scene around 10:30 a.m. and found Grahn's body at the bottom of the basement stairs. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner determined that Grahn had been shot in the abdomen.
It was noted that there was a significant possibility he could have been saved if emergency services had been called in time.
The investigation led to the arrest of 32-year-old Eric Michael Fullerton, who was charged with two counts of second-degree murder in connection with Grahn's death. Witnesses initially claimed they found Grahn dead that morning, but later admitted to seeing Fullerton shoot Grahn around 11 p.m. on November 19. Fullerton denied being at the scene during the shooting, but evidence such as phone tracking data, video surveillance, and witness statements contradicted his alibi. One witness even reported that Fullerton had confessed to the shooting.
Fullerton was taken into custody and faced additional drug charges in an unrelated case. He later changed his plea to guilty on one count of second-degree murder as part of a plea agreement. The case highlighted the tragic loss of a young life and the importance of timely emergency response in potentially life-saving situations.
