James Edward Smith, a 35-year-old Black male, was fatally shot on January 20, 2025, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The incident occurred in an alley on the 3100 block of Harriet Avenue, where police responded to reports of a body being dumped from a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers discovered Smith with multiple life-threatening gunshot wounds. He was transported to Hennepin Healthcare, where he was pronounced dead.
