Michael Lee Bell-McCalister, a 23-year-old resident of Minneapolis, was fatally shot on March 28, 2022. The incident occurred around 5:25 p.m. near the intersection of East Franklin Avenue and South 4th Avenue. Bell-McCalister was found inside a vehicle that had crashed into the porch of an apartment building. Emergency responders transported him to Hennepin County Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries the following day.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed that he died from a gunshot wound to the head.
Approximately ten minutes before Bell-McCalister was shot, another man, Timothy Treyvon Brown, aged 35, was also fatally shot in the head. Brown was found in the hallway of an apartment building located in the 2400 block of Elliot Avenue, roughly eight blocks southeast of where Bell-McCalister was shot. Brown was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are investigating any potential connection between the two shootings.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with either shooting. The Minneapolis Police Department has not released any descriptions or names of suspects involved in these incidents. They are urging anyone with information to contact CrimeStoppers.
