Michael Darnell Smith, a 32-year-old resident of Minneapolis, MN, was tragically killed on May 22, 2022. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning on the 2200 block of Ilion Avenue North. According to the Minneapolis Police Department, officers were alerted to the scene by ShotSpotter technology, which detected gunshots in the area. Upon arrival, they found Smith suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso. Despite efforts to render aid, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
