Connor Yoseph Green, 19, a Black male, was shot and killed in Minneapolis on November 12, 2022. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner identified him and ruled his death a homicide caused by multiple gunshot wounds, noting he was pronounced dead at Hennepin Healthcare at 12:11 p.m. that day. Green had been born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and joined his family in Minnesota as a baby, growing up in Brooklyn Center and graduating from Brooklyn Center High School in 2021.
Late that morning, around 11:40 a.m., police were called to the 4700 block of Lyndale Avenue North, near the Camden Apartments, after reports of gunfire and a vehicle crash. According to initial accounts, Green was in his car when a second vehicle pulled alongside and someone opened fire before speeding away. Bystanders pulled him from the vehicle and attempted CPR until first responders arrived; he was transported to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Authorities described the shooting as a drive-by and said the suspect or suspects fled in the second vehicle. In the days immediately following the killing, officials reported no arrests and asked anyone with information to contact CrimeStoppers as the investigation continued.
The case added to a difficult year for Minneapolis, marked as the city’s 74th homicide of 2022 at the time.
