In the pre-dawn hours of January 8, 1996, the life of 24-year-old Caucasian male, Kevin Easter, a Sedgwick County Sheriff's Deputy in Wichita, Kansas, came to a tragic end. Easter, who had been with the department for two and a half years, was on patrol when he attempted to pull over a stolen vehicle. The driver, a 14-year-old, refused to stop, initiating a high-speed chase that concluded when the stolen car crashed through a fence.
