In the quiet town of Augusta, Kansas, the life of 45-year-old Gary Weaver came to a tragic end on February 6, 2014. The events of that evening unfolded in a home on Helen Street, leaving the community in shock and mourning. Weaver, a man known to enjoy spending time on his Harley Davidson and who worked in the HVAC industry, was involved in a domestic dispute that escalated to a fatal conclusion.
On that Thursday night, a 12-year-old boy made a harrowing 911 call from inside the
residence, reporting that shots had been fired. The boy, who had locked himself in a bedroom after hearing his mother scream, was safely guided out of the house by responding Augusta police officers. Once inside, law enforcement discovered the bodies of Gary Weaver and 31-year-old Erin Weaver.
Investigations into the deaths revealed the incident to be a murder-suicide. Evidence gathered at the scene indicated that Gary Weaver shot his wife before turning the gun on himself. As a result, there were no arrests made and no outstanding suspects in the case. Authorities confirmed there had been no prior police calls to the residence for domestic violence.
