Known for her big personality and ability to make friends easily, Lily was a source of joy for her family. She loved animals, singing, swimming, dancing, and fishing, yet she was also a "girly-girl" who enjoyed her lip gloss and doing her hair.
Her life, full of promise and sunshine, was tragically cut short on the evening of July 6, 2015.
On that day, Lily was the victim of a drive-by shooting. The incident was a senseless act of violence that was later determined to be a case of mistaken identity. Authorities believe the intended target was connected to another homicide that had occurred that same month. Ballistics evidence later linked the firearm used in Lily's shooting to the murder of Antwon Love. The shots that fatally wounded the young girl were not meant for her or her family, a fact that only deepened the tragedy of the senseless loss.
The investigation into Lily's death led to the arrest of Jessie Hughes. He was charged with first-degree murder in connection with the drive-by shooting that claimed the young girl's life.
