On July 29, 2024, Johanys C. Rivera, 30, of Topeka, Kansas, was found deceased alongside Alvin D. Munsell, 40, also of Topeka, in the Montara neighborhood south of the city. Both had sustained gunshot wounds; Rivera suffered multiple gunshot injuries, while Munsell's wound appeared self-inflicted.
