On December 22, 2023, at approximately 6 p.m., Topeka police responded to reports of a shooting near Southwest Sixth Avenue and Southwest Fillmore Street in downtown Topeka. Upon arrival, officers discovered 45-year-old Jennifer Eisele suffering from a gunshot wound; she was pronounced dead at the scene.
