In the summer of 2015, a wave of violence gripped the Hi-Crest neighborhood of Topeka, Kansas, and at the center of it was the death of Antwon Jerane Love. A 45-year-old Black/African American male, Love was gunned down on July 18, 2015. The incident occurred in the 3300 block of S.E. Humboldt, a street that had become a focal point for a series of shootings at the time. Love was shot multiple times, his death adding to the growing concerns about gang-related violence in the area.
