In the early morning hours of March 8, 2013, the life of 21-year-old Parish Ocampo was tragically cut short in a violent home invasion in Phoenix, Arizona. A Hispanic male with a promising future, Parish was known as a great young man who was dedicated to helping others. He was a talented soccer player who had graduated from Arcadia High School in 2009 and had aspirations of attending college to one day start his own international business in France.
At the time of his death, he was working for a pharmaceutical company.
Just before 2:30 a.m., two armed men forced their way into the Ocampo family home located near 16th Street and Van Buren. The intruders went from room to room looking for Parish and his 46-year-old father, Ulises Ocampo. Both father and son were shot and killed by the assailants. Parish's mother and younger brother were also in the house at the time but managed to hide and were not physically harmed during the terrifying ordeal. The invaders reportedly demanded drugs but ultimately fled the scene without taking anything of value.
Phoenix police investigators have stated that there is no indication that Parish or his father were involved in any criminal activity, leading to speculation that the shooters may have targeted the wrong home. The suspects were described as two Black males. One suspect was said to be between 6'2' and 6'3' and around 230 pounds, wearing a black bandana. The second suspect was described as being about 6 feet tall and 200 pounds, with his face obscured by a ski mask. Despite the ongoing investigation and pleas for information from the public, no arrests have been made in the murders of Parish and Ulises Ocampo.
