A promising young life was cut short on a summer evening in Kansas City, Kansas. Adarius Barber, a 16-year-old Black male, was fatally wounded on August 6, 2017, in a shooting that also claimed the life of his 17-year-old cousin, Le'Andrew Vaughn. The two teenagers were inside a car in the 6100 block of Haskell Avenue when gunfire erupted, shattering the lives of their families and shaking the community. A third teenager in the vehicle sustained injuries but survived the attack.
