On a Thursday afternoon, August 24, 2017, the life of a 32-year-old Black/African American man named Eric Plummer was tragically cut short in Topeka, Kansas. At approximately 3:00 PM, officers from the Topeka Police Department were dispatched to the area of 23rd and SE Bellview following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Eric Plummer suffering from life-threatening injuries.
Emergency medical crews attended to Plummer at the scene, but his injuries proved to be
fatal, and he was pronounced dead. Investigators determined he had been shot and killed. According to reports, the individual responsible for the shooting fled the scene on foot, heading in a southwest direction. Despite the immediate response and subsequent investigation by law enforcement, no arrests have been made in connection with the homicide.
The case of Eric Plummer's death remains an unsolved homicide. The Topeka Police Department has continued to seek information from the public to help bring closure to his family. A reward of up to $2,000 has been offered for any information that leads to an arrest. Plummer, who was originally from Beaumont, Texas, had relocated to Topeka. His murder left behind his parents and two brothers.
