In the early morning hours of August 5, 2016, the life of Dante Fields, a 24-year-old Black / African American male, was tragically cut short in Topeka, Kansas. Fields was leaving a bar in the southwest part of the city when he was fatally shot. The Topeka Police Department responded to a report of the shooting at approximately 2:18 a.m. at 4121 SW Huntoon. Upon their arrival, they discovered Fields, who had sustained a gunshot wound and succumbed to his injuries.
