In the early morning hours of August 5, 2016, the life of Dante Fields, a 24-year-old Black / African American male, was tragically cut short in Topeka, Kansas. Fields was leaving a bar in the southwest part of the city when he was fatally shot. The Topeka Police Department responded to a report of the shooting at approximately 2:18 a.m. at 4121 SW Huntoon.
Upon their arrival, they discovered Fields, who had sustained a gunshot wound and succumbed to his injuries.
Dante Fields, born on December 9, 1991, in Honolulu, Hawaii, was a father of two children. His sudden and violent death left his family, including his mother Sheree Hicks and father John D. Fields, devastated and searching for answers. In the years following the incident, his family has continued to publicly appeal for anyone with information to come forward, hoping to bring a measure of justice for Dante.
