In the late hours of a summer evening in Topeka, Kansas, the life of Calvin Eugene Cole Jr., a 21-year-old Black/African American male, was tragically cut short. On August 10, 2020, near Southwest 37th Street and South Kansas Avenue, gunshots shattered the night, prompting a response from the Topeka Police Department at approximately 10:14 p.m. Arriving at the scene, officers discovered a grim tableau with three individuals suffering from gunshot wounds.
