On a summer evening in Topeka, Kansas, the life of 26-year-old Ryan Lofton, a Black/African American male, was tragically cut short. On June 7, 2010, a dispute at his residence escalated into violence, ending with Lofton being fatally shot. The man identified as the shooter was Stephen Alan Macomber. In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, Lofton was heard shouting, "I'm shot," before succumbing to a gunshot wound to his back.
