On the evening of March 7, 2018, a burst of violence shattered the quiet of a Kansas City, Kansas neighborhood, leaving a family grieving and a community searching for answers. Michael Haskell, a 36-year-old Black / African American man, was found suffering from gunshot wounds in the 2900 block of North 26th Street. The call came in to police at approximately 6:15 p.m., a time when many were settling in for the evening, now tragically interrupted by the sound of gunfire.
