White/Caucasian female, age 30 — Salisa Loucks — was found shot to death late on the night of February 4, 2019, in Anchorage, Alaska. Just after 11 p.m., a shots-fired call drew officers to the area near East 12th Avenue and Cordova Street, where they discovered Loucks inside a Jeep SUV in an alley. She had a gunshot wound to the upper body and died at the scene.
Police publicly released her name two days later as they worked to trace the circumstances that brought the vehicle to the alley and to identify who had fired into the Jeep.
Detectives soon focused on a suspect and, roughly a month after the killing, secured an arrest. On March 7, 2019, officers detained 19-year-old Terrance Paleka Jr. around 4:30 a.m. as he arrived in Anchorage on a flight from Hawaii, taking him into custody on a second-degree murder warrant in connection with the death of the 30-year-old victim. Investigators said they believed the shooter was in a separate vehicle positioned next to the victim's SUV when the fatal shot was fired; they interviewed several people, including a 38-year-old woman who had been inside the suspect's car.
