Shirley Skeek, a 28-year-old Alaska Native woman from Anchorage, Alaska, was reported missing in early January 2019. Her family, who had not heard from her in two weeks, contacted authorities out of concern for her well-being. Shirley had a diagnosed mental health condition—schizophrenia—and had moved to Anchorage from Juneau to access assisted living services.
