In the early morning hours of August 22, 2020, Vincent "Vinny" Gabriel Vega, an 18-year-old Hispanic male, was shot and killed in Kansas City, Kansas. The incident occurred shortly after 1:30 a.m. while Vega was in his 2008 silver Mercedes-Benz sedan at the Berkshire Village Townhomes in the Argentine neighborhood. He was reportedly dropping off his girlfriend near South 32nd Street and Shearer Road when his vehicle was struck by more than 20 bullets.
Police responded to a report of a homicide at 1:37 a.m. in the 1900 block of South 32nd Street where they found Vega with multiple gunshot wounds. He died at the scene.
Born on August 23, 2001, in Kansas City, Kansas, Vincent was remembered as a loving son and brother who enjoyed baseball and spending time with his friends. Those who knew him recalled his infectious smile and laughter. Friends described him as a selfless and hardworking person who knew how to make people smile. A visitation and Mass of Christian Burial were held for him in early September 2020.
As of current reports, no arrests have been made in connection with Vincent Vega's murder, and the case remains unsolved. The Kansas City, Kansas Police Department has asked for the public's assistance and is seeking any information that could lead to the identification and apprehension of the person or persons responsible. A reward of $5,000 has been offered for information leading to an arrest in the case. His family continues to seek justice and closure in his death.
