In the early morning hours of June 30, 2018, a domestic dispute in a Wichita, Kansas, apartment tragically escalated, claiming the life of 23-year-old Patrick Ball-Morse. The young man, a male resident of Wichita, was at an apartment in the 800 block of West 26th Street, helping his girlfriend move. An argument erupted between his girlfriend and her 34-year-old brother, Robert G. Hill.
It is believed that Ball-Morse attempted to intervene in the escalating conflict.
During the course of the argument, a single, fatal gunshot was fired. Officers who responded to the scene at approximately 2 a.m. discovered Patrick Ball-Morse with a gunshot wound to his head. He was pronounced dead at the scene. In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, the suspect, identified as Robert G. Hill, fled the location, prompting a search by law enforcement. Authorities issued a public alert, cautioning that Hill should be considered armed and dangerous and had outstanding warrants.
The search for Hill concluded two days later, on July 2, 2018. Investigators received a tip that he was traveling to Dallas. Acting on this information, law enforcement located and arrested him at a Greyhound bus stop in Perry, Oklahoma. At the time of his arrest, Hill initially provided a false name to officers. He was taken into custody on outstanding Kansas warrants and was slated for extradition back to Kansas to face charges in connection with the death of Patrick Ball-Morse.
