On December 27, 2018, 36-year-old Caucasian female Molly E. Wilson was found deceased in her home in Iola, Kansas. Her father, 69-year-old John Tadlock, was also discovered dead at the residence located at 114 S. Kentucky St. Both victims had been fatally shot.
The ensuing investigation quickly identified a person of interest, Ben Converse, who was Wilson's boyfriend and lived at the home with her and her father. When police arrived at the scene, Converse was not present. A search for him was initiated, extending to the neighboring states of Oklahoma and Arkansas after he reportedly took a vehicle from a residence in Humboldt.
Law enforcement, including the Kansas Bureau of Investigation and U.S. Marshals, tracked Converse to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he was believed to have connections. Upon being spotted by officers, Converse fled on foot. The brief chase concluded outside a South Tulsa apartment complex where Converse shot himself with a handgun. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died from the self-inflicted gunshot wound.
