John Daniel Tadlock, aged 69, was found dead on December 27, 2018, in his home located at 114 S. Kentucky Street in Iola, Kansas. He was discovered alongside his daughter, 36-year-old Molly Wilson. Both victims had suffered fatal gunshot wounds. The Iola Police Department, with assistance from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation responded to the scene shortly after 5 p.m. on the day of the incident.
