The search for Converse extended beyond Kansas, with reports suggesting he might be in the Oklahoma area. On December 28, 2018, police in Tulsa, Oklahoma, located Converse. During an attempt to serve a warrant, Converse led officers on a pursuit that ended near the Somerset Apartments in Tulsa. In a tragic turn of events, Converse shot himself before he could be apprehended. He was taken to a hospital, but his condition was not immediately known.
