On the evening of July 24, 2023, 14-year-old Malachi Sicka was fatally shot near downtown Wichita, Kansas. The Wichita Police Department received a call at 10:12 p.m. reporting an incident in the 600 block of South Laura, near Skyline Park. Upon arrival, officers found Malachi in the 1100 block of East Orme Street. Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
