In a quiet south Wichita neighborhood, the life of 39-year-old Alan Young, a White male, was tragically cut short on Sunday, November 10, 2024, in a shocking series of events that claimed the lives of four individuals before the perpetrator took his own. The grim discovery began to unfold when police were called to a home in the 1700 block of South Santa Fe, where they found 67-year-old Anthony Stickney deceased from gunshot wounds.
The investigation into Anthony's death quickly led
officers to the home of his son, 42-year-old Joshua Stickney, located in the 1900 block of South Laura. Upon arrival, officers observed two unresponsive individuals inside the residence. Forcing entry, they discovered the bodies of 66-year-old Donald Dodge, a friend and neighbor of Joshua's, and 55-year-old Terry Meyer, Joshua's live-in stepfather. Both men had been shot and killed. Joshua Stickney was also found deceased inside the home from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The tragedy deepened as the investigation continued. While attempting to find someone to care for Joshua Stickney's pet, officers were directed to the nearby home of another neighbor, Alan Young. Officers saw Young unresponsive inside his residence and forced their way in, finding him also deceased from gunshot wounds.
Wichita Police have indicated that a firearm found near Joshua Stickney is believed to be the weapon used in all the shootings. Investigators are still working to understand the motive behind the violent rampage. While the investigation is ongoing, police have stated that the killings do not appear to be a random act of violence. With the suspect deceased, authorities have confirmed that there are no outstanding suspects, and no arrests have been made in connection with the quadruple murder-suicide that ended Alan Young's life.
