In the early hours of January 2, 2020, the life of 27-year-old George Miles Kirksey, a Black male from Wichita, Kansas, was tragically cut short. Kirksey and a companion, 22-year-old Alicia Lyn Roman, were discovered by police at the Hotel at Waterwalk in downtown Wichita, both having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics who arrived at the scene shortly after 12:20 a.m. were unable to save them, and both were pronounced dead inside their hotel room.
